How many public holidays are there in 2020?

So far only 8 fixed statutory days off are known for 2020. The Government has not announced the detailed schedule, so compensatory days and the adjacent National Day holiday are not yet determined — the real figure will be higher.

What is the difference between a holiday and a day off?

A named holiday is commemorated but still a working day — Vietnamese Teachers' Day on 20 November, for example. A day off is a day workers take on full pay under Article 112 of the 2019 Labour Code; there are only six such occasions, plus the compensatory and swapped days the Government announces each year.
